Model N Soars Over 30 percent on IPO
Model N (MODN), a Northern California software outfit that provides revenue management services for healthcare and technology companies, is having a stellar IPO day. Starting off with a price of $15.50, the stock has soared 34.65 percent, currently trading at $20.87. The company raised about $104 million, and currently has a market cap of around $445 million. Zack Rinat, the company’s CEO and founder, sees a role for management software that extends beyond the traditional cost-cutting and process-automation needs for things like human capital management in human resource departments, sales and marketing for customer relationship management, and finance for enterprise resource planning. “Keep in mind that customers lose tens of billions each year by leaving money on the table because they do not effectively manage pricing, rebates/incentives and contracting,” he said in an interview on Wednesday morning. A Look at the Tech IPO Class of 2011 as Pandora and Groupon CEOs Resign
The internet radio company Pandora (P) held its initial public offering in 2011, along with a groups of internet businesses. Revenue for the quarter was $125.1 million, a non-GAAP loss of $0.04 per share, but topping analyst expectations of $122.81 million, or $0.05 cents per share. The Q4 revenue figure represents a 54 percent increase on the same period the year prior. More impressive, however, was the growth in revenue from mobile devices: $80.3 million in Q4, an increase of 111 percent on the year prior. Listeners clocked in a total of 4.05 billion hours, up 53 percent from the year before. The company claims to be the largest radio station in most American markets, with 67 million monthly listeners, or eight percent of all radio listening. Stormy Conditions Causing Delays in Initial Public Offerings
Radius Health Inc. (RDUS) said Wednesday that it is postponing its initial public offering, citing market conditions. The company planned its offering for today to list on the Nasdaq Global Market under the ticker “RDUS.” In October, the pharmaceutical company reported that it expected its IPO of 6.5 million shares to be priced between $8.50 and $10.50 per share. At the midpoint of the range, Radius would have a fully-diluted market capitalization of about $300 million. The Cambridge, Massachusetts company is primarily focused on developing new therapeutics for the treatment of osteoporosis and other women’s health conditions. In December 2011, Radius raised $91 million in venture funding with a portion of the raise dedicated towards its phase III clinical trials of its lead drug candidate, BA058, an injectable which is said to stimulate rapid bone formation in osteoporosis patients.
