Filed under: Spotlight Companies — Spotlight Companies @ 4:41 pm

SearchCore (SRER), a a technology-based internet marketing company, is in the process of going through a transformation in 2012. Prior to January, SearchCore was called General Cannabis and specialized in the medical marijuana industry. Making use of subsidiary WeedMaps Media, which runs the website WeedMaps.com that connects patients to medical marijuana dispensaries in their area, General Cannabis became a leader in the medicinal marijuana industry.

The change to SearchCore, though, wasn’t just symbolic. SearchCore is looking to take the approach that found success with in the medical cannabis industry and expand into new verticals. ”The technological fundamentals of our business model can easily be leveraged, and our goal in 2012 is to duplicate that model in an attempt to methodically grow our company,” said Jim Pakulis , CEO of SearchCore. “In the short, medium and long term, we believe this approach best serves our shareholders and investors.”

MMJMenu Acquisition Continues Big Year

Another big piece of news for SearchCore this year was the acquisition of MMJMenu, the industry leader in seed-to-sale collective management and point-to-sale software, by WeedMaps Media. MMJMenu will offer WeedMaps a new range of assets and software technology to help the site continue to grow in popularity.

“WeedMaps Media has now incorporated a complete roster of exceptional, user-friendly software products that we can offer dispensary owners in order to help drive, maintain and monitor their businesses,” said SearchCore’s Chief Web Officer Justin Hartfield. ”We’re proud to announce that as a result of the acquisition of MMJMenu, we will be offering one of MMJMenu’s point-of-sale software options absolutely free of charge to dispensary owners.   We hope that this will help dispensaries make the decision to take the necessary measures to help push our industry forward and help it reach its full potential.”

With the addition of MMJMenu, WeedMaps could be poised to continue building on its success and driving the profits that will allow SearchCore to continue its expansion into new industries.
